witnesses scrpiture

What an interesting thought –  “everything you do is public”. To quote Beth Moore, “Everything you do is public, even when you can’t see the public!”  What exactly does this mean?

Am I talking about cell phone videos, or photos?  A lot of things like these are popping up in our current culture.  But, no, that’s no what I’m talking about. God is all-seeing and all-knowing.  So obviously,God sees and there’s no thing you can hide from Him.  But others, publicly?  Yes!

In Hebrews it says we have a great cloud of witnesses cheering us on to the finish race!  Does that mean they see what we are doing? Hear what we are thinking?  I’d love to say no because we all have horrible thoughts sometimes or do things we know to be wrong sometimes.  If we didn’t there wouldn’t be a need for Jesus!

But ask yourselves this, “When I go through a fiery trial, what is my motivation to come through to the other side.” Do I stop in the middle because it’s way too hard?  OR do I keep on going?

Here’s the rest of the story!

Hebrews 12:1-3

Jesus, the Example

12 Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, [a]fixing our eyes on Jesus, the [b]author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary [c]and lose heart.

Jesus Himself endured the entire cross, not just the beatings before it, not just the ridicule and shame, but the entire cross until painful death. And why?  For the joy – the JOY set before Him!

So how can we get through?  We, too, have that joy, that promise from God Himself, that very same hope.  The hope of better things to come, of heaven, of being with our Lord and Savior. And better yet, we have our very own personal cheering section!

So when you’re going through something you think you just can’t stand, when you have such a painful loss you just think you’ll never be okay again, look up!  They are there even though you just can’t see them!  Your cheering section.

And for heaven’s sake, get down on your knees and plead with Jesus to help you.  To show you the way through. And He will – He knows the way – and He loves to share it with us.
