How to begin this… such a hard decision. Yesterday, our country took yet another major step away from God and His principles. It’s happening more and more lately. even if it’s not being handed down from SCOTUS, it’s coming from the people themselves.
As Christians we have a responsibility to Counter the Culture (David Platt) with salt and light and truth. But we get defensive in doing so and it’s becomes harsh and without love and in your face. And that doesn’t do anything but make the situation worse and worse as it goes along.
It further disturbs me to see people I know to claim to be Christians saying #LoveWins and changing their pictures to be covered in rainbows, etc. Really? I thought God was love. I understood this entire subject to be sin. I understand the people participating in this particular sin to need God’s love and grace just as much as the rest of us.
So this morning I read some really encouraging stuff. Greg Laurie will be speaking on Sunday about “Hold Your Ground”. It seems that this major cultural event is distracting us from our duties as Christians, me included. And this blog by Kevin Halloran, “Four Ways Christians Can Respond to the Supreme Court Decision on Same-Sex Marriage” says basically “keep on truckin'” with your goals as a Christian. It’s well worth the read.
And finally, how do we fight? How do we gain ground back? First of all we have to recognize we are in a war. As soon as you step into the world of Christ, you are involved in a battle for souls. You are targeted and attacked. And remember, we are in enemy territory. Do any of us truly act like it?
Ephesians 6:12
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.
How in the world are we supposed to gain any ground in that mess when it’s way beyond anything we can understand or see, even. On your knees! Pray! Pray until you’ve got nothing left. Then listen and see what God has to say to you. That’s the hardest part for me. The listening. I’m not very good, I get distracted so easily. So I ask God for pin-point laser focus until He’s done with me. And that’s another point, until He is done talking to me, not until my knees are tired. If they are, change position! PUSH, Pray Until Something Happens! This may mean days, or months or even years. But just keep on keeping on!
As for our country, we are now down to calling good bad and bad good. And as the Bible says, time to look up! This is the beginning of the end. And notice, just the beginning. Goodness, I appreciate God’s patience for the lost. So in the meantime, we wait, we don’t get distracted and we PRAY!
And in a truly timely fashion, there is a movie coming out in August about just such matters. Watch this trailer for War Room! I can’t wait to see it!
Thank you for your sincerity and for bringing War Room to my attention. Looking forward to seeing it.

It’s going to be an eye opening movie and a great reminder that in years past, prayer is how they got through life.
