No matter what is happening In this topsy-turvy world, we can be assured that our God is still in control – our God reigns.  I know because I wrote some notes down for this post with this exact title about two months ago, and look at the timing of it!

Let’s look at how the dictionary defines a terrorist.  For our purposes I will use the second definition.

2 a person who terrorizes or frightens others.

Isn’t that the very definition of what the devil, our enemy is trying to do to us?  If he can terrorize or make us live in constant fear, we are therefore paralyzed and cannot do what God has for us to do.

Shoot, even in the Bible it says, “Do Not Fear” 365 times, one for each and every day.  I’ve learned that if God says something more than once or twice we should be special attention.  But 365 times – that’s strong, that’s important. This says to me that Satan is trying to make me afraid each and every day with his terrorist threats.  They are, after all, only threats, because He doesn’t hold the power.  Jesus does and Satan has been defeated!

Do not fear

And our adversary doesn’t play fair, he doesn’t pull any punches – he flat out tries to scare us to death!  Either that or make us passive so he can work and do what he wants in our lives.  NO, JUST NO!

Priscilla Shirer in her study Armor of God says, “He wants to terrorize you until you’re rendered incapacitated, miserable, and incapable of living in the benefits of a victory that has already been won.”  So we definitely need to be alert and on our guard.

Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 1 Peter 5:8

This takes me back to 9-11.  The passengers aboard all of those planes that crashed that day were told by the terrorists to sit down and shut up – you will be fine.  Of course that was an out and out lie.  Doesn’t it remind you of the enemies lies to us?  Be passive, nothing will happen to your life, to your faith, to your Christian walk.

But on one of those planes, the people on board were alert and sober of spirit.  They saved many lives and even our own White House that day. Yes, they lost their own lives, but they saved others.

Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves;

13 Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13

And that they did!

So here’s the moral of the story:  The devil is day and night terrorizing you.  And it’s time to fight back.  When God says, “Lets Roll”, like Todd Beamer did on that fateful fall day, let’s not sit back on our haunches and wait for things to calm down.

It takes intentional pray, intentional asking God to come into that certain situation in our own life, in our family’s lives, in our city, in our world.  To ask God to step into the situation and make the battle His and His alone.  Some things we try to take on are never ours to handle.

battle is Gods - pt 2

The battle is not your, but God’s.

And when we obey God, when we cry out to our Daddy, you don’t know how many lives could be saved… maybe even your own.
