Christmas, For Unto Us a Child Is Born, Government, Hallelujah chorus, Handel's Messiah, Mormon Tabernacle Choir, The Messiah
Okay, so it’s Christmas time. In my car this means the fabulous Messiah CD is in the player… we always listen to the Hallelujah Chorus. I’ve loved that song since we sang it in choir my freshman year at Western Christian. And I played violin beautifully for many years, so I love that long haired stuff.
Anyway, apparently this year the song of the year is For Unto Us A Child Is Born. For those of you who don’t know it, it quotes Isaiah 9:6. And what stood out to me this year in the lyrics is, “And the government shall be upon His shoulders.” Whose shoulders? Not mine, not BHO’s, not any of those in the debate last night. The government is resting on the shoulders of Jesus. It is His responsibility alone. Says so in Isaiah.
So we can rest in the assurance that whatever governmental things are happening, they are exactly, yes EXACTLY what God has intended. “For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6-7.
