So in Part One, we discussed what God has to say about earthly riches. If you missed it you can CLICK HERE to read about it.
My mind has been spinning all about how much more we have been promised, we have been freely given just by choosing Jesus instead of the world. You see, we are given a choice
And I was waiting to write part two for something, I just wasn’t sure what that something was. Until I got to the end of the Armor Of God Study I have been doing with Priscilla Shirer. There on the pages in front of me, two pages with small type of all the benefits we have received, complete with corresponding scriptures. How marvelous! What a great boost to this post!
I think we all get worried over money, debts, things of that nature. We all need encouragement from time to time, so I think I just want to share a few of these two pages with you.
Firstly, I am chosen by God, holy and dearly loved. (Colossians 3:12)
I have been given the right to become a child of God (John 1:12)
I am joint heirs (I inheirit) with Jesus. (Romans 8:17)
I am a citizen of heaven complete with all the benefits that entails. (Philippians 3:20)
ALL things work together for my good. (Romans 8:28)
And as you can see the list goes on and on and on. I only highlighted a few, as I said, in the interest of time and attention. And a whole ton of these promises are about who I actually am, what help I can actually expect, and who helps me.
The thing is, if we choose money, we are no longer promised these things. And as King Saul said, chasing after money is like chasing after the wind. Pointless and fruitless. As we all know, money comes and goes.
In my own life I have been not rich, but in good enough financial shape to buy whatever I have needed if not wanted. And I have been down to the lowest, my lowest being when I was a single mom of three kids. And by the grace of God, I was given a car, the food pantry supplemented our food needs and I had a small job. There are many others who were not, are not as fortunate. So me saying He will supply my needs is more of a testimony than something written in a book.
I want to close up with an illustration by Francis Chan – the Rope illustration. It struck me, and even if you’ve seen it, please watch it again. The intent was to illustrate eternity versus our time here on earth. But it applies to the money issue here as well.
Have a marvelous day,
LindaKay
