Did you ever think, “My soul needs to wake up?” Have you ever felt stuck in a rut; or been bombarded with terrible, awful, no good thoughts that you just can’t get out of your head?
David says in Psalm 57:8, “Awake my soul!”. Why in the world would we need to tell our soul to awaken? It seems like a no-brainer; if I wake up so does the rest of me, including my soul. But David, in a Psalm about his own sin, stops and tells his own soul to wake on up!
Many of the Psalmists wrote about their sin. Psalm 32:5 – I told You about my sin and You forgave me. Psalm 38:18 – I confess, I am sorry. Psalm 39:1 – I will guard myself. Psalm 51:3 – the devil keeps reminding me of my sin. And here’s the best one yet! In Psalm 139:23-24 He asks God to search His heart and let him know if there is anything wicked lurking in there that needs God’s help to flush out! How’s that for an awakening!
“It’s easy to grow dull to our own sin habits. When we aren’t alert, what God has made ‘new’ can become dingy and neglected because of our sin. Sin shows up in self-loathing, negative attitudes and accepting lies as truth, just to name a few ways. That’s why we must tell our soul to be awake. When we are tuned in and alert to our sin, we can speak truth to our souls and to God about our sin.” – Jennifer Rothschild (Me, Myself and Lies) Beginning each and every day by asking God to search your heart – now that’s being fully awake.
So what happens when the Holy Spirit shows us that place in our heart that needs to be cleaned out – to be made new? 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sin He is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from ALL unrighteousness.” Confess, tell God what He already knows, but wants to hear from you. How exciting that we are cleansed from everything – all our unrighteousness!
We are made new once again. Just like 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “If anyone be in Christ he is a new creation, the old things have passed and all things are made new.” The phrase new and improved comes to mind. Why improved? Because Jesus makes things better than before we came to Him. That’s how much He loves us!
So all that to say, Let’s start our day by asking God to search us and dig those sins out. And let’s start each and every day with a clean slate!

My friend, you have done it again. It’s so ironic, because this year has been a year of transformation and growth for me. It’s out with the old, in with the new. GOD has been truly speaking to me through HIS word and has given me confirmation daily. This is another form of confirmation. Continue to allow GOD to use you. GOD bless you my sister.

Lovely, I think a lot of us are in the same season. Transformation and growth and being positioned to be sent out and do what God has planned for us. He is calling women to rise up and go out and I love it! I’m so glad this confirmed something in you. May you be blessed and see much fruit after this season. XOXO
