Okay so we are all sick to death of hearing the vast opinions over Bruce Jenner.  I am sick of seeing that Vanity Fair cover splashed over and over again on my Facebook newsfeed.  You seriously can’t have missed it, everyone knows.

My take is the same take as a blog I posted on my feed by EmilySuzanne11.  She pretty much sums it all up.  With just a side note, I would have added these extra scriptures.  Galatians 6:7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap.   God knows who He created… God knows he is still a he.  I love Emily’s explanation of that, “The emperor has no clothes and Bruce Jenner is not a woman.” God is not fooled by Mr Bruce Jenner’s confusion.  And 1 Corinthians 14:33A 33 for God is not a God of confusion but of [a]peace…  This, of course is for the Christians reading this particular blog.

But here’s the thing. A few friends of mine have actually dared share an opinion on this subject, again on their Facebook page and have totally been attacked.  They have lost friends and plenty of hate has been spewed all over the place.  For me personally, I question our culture.  When in the world did a difference of opinion equal hate and intolerance.  Truly, it doesn’t.  But the general population is making it so.

With that being said, there are plenty of scriptures about Christ coming to divide. Luke 25:53  53 They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.” And Matthew 25:33  33 and He will put the sheep on His right, and the goats on the left.

If there was ever an issue that appears to be doing this on a large scale, this is it.  Everyone has an opinion; some of those were formed based on God’s word.  Some of those were based on Hollywood’s agenda, and some were just formed because this is what they heard a friend say.

Still this is not my issue.  My issue with all of this is that Christians are being silenced. We are being persecuted because we dared to think for ourselves and have a different opinion that the general population.  (Funny how God brought those exact words into my brain.)  People having to remove their posts, one even as simple as saying she felt sorry for Bruce Jenner.  Shoot, you should have seen the hate directed at her for that simple sentence.  And of course the hate all says “judgemental”, “hate” or “intolerance”.  And then it leads to personal attacks.

Christians are called to be salt and light to the world.  We are called to be the differing opinion.  We are called to be at war with the culture we live in.  And we get trounced sometimes.  But here’s the thing…

Exodus 14:14 14 The Lord will fight for you while you keep silent.”  Sometimes I personally need duct tape.  The taming of the tongue is a difficult thing.   James 3:8 says, But no one can tame the tongue; it is a restless evil and full of deadly poison.

So, how then, do we sit through all this and be silent?  I have things flying out of my mouth all the time… but that’s another blog entirely.  By prayer… asking God for the minds and hearts of these would-be attackers.  By asking God to remove the scales from their eyes so they can see clearly.  And by asking God for help with patience and a little help with the tongue… I am preaching at myself.

And as for my one friend’s posting, feeling sorry for Bruce, I wholeheartedly agree.  He will not be any more happy when all the hoopla dies down, than before when he watched the rest of his family get famous around him.  I pray that God will send a voice of reason, a person who will be that salt and light in his life personally and plant seeds of love and forgiveness and Jesus.
