So what do we have to do to come to Jesus?  Does getting ready to be the Bride of Christ mean I have to do all sorts of things before I can come with all my pain, fear, sins, etc. and give them all to Jesus? Do I have to be perfect or at least better than I am now?

Romans 7:18

For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh; for the willing is present in me, but the doing of the good is not.

Absolutely not!  Come as you are.  Talk with Jesus.  He knows every care, every fear, every worry, every doubt, every shame in your life!  You see, we were made to be lambs, not pack wolves.  And the more we carry around, the heavier and heavier our hearts become.  The solution, hand them over, give them to someone much stronger and better equipped to handle it – Jesus.

But then, where does this getting ready thing come in?  Well, after you have given your life and burdens over to Jesus, it is His job to get you ready.  It is His job to finish the work He started in you.  It is His job to teach you a new way of life. I would encourage you to start reading the Bible- maybe starting in the book of John.  Ask God to help you understand it.  He will give you wisdom to know what many others can’t understand because they don’t have His guidance.

1 Timothy 6:7

For we have brought nothing into the world, so we cannot take anything out of it either.

So I’ll just leave you with the lyrics to an amazing song by an amazing girl.

Empty Handed – by Lindsay McCaul

All the banners I have waved
For my glory and my gain
Empty promises of fame
But I see the truth

I give up all I had to prove
I turn my back on my pursuits
‘Cause there’s no worth in all the world
Compared to You

‘Cause all You are is all I need
You fill the deepest part of me
And all I have that I can bring
Was never meant to belong to me
You overflow from who You are
And overwhelm my heart
So I come as I am
Empty handed

Not a credit to my name
Nothing earned that I can claim
No position I could trade
But You’re beckoning

You take my nothing and my need
And place a crown on poverty
You gave Your life for me so I could see that
You are everything

‘Cause all You are is all I need
You fill the deepest part of me
And all I have that I can bring
Was never meant to belong to me
You overflow from who You are
And overwhelm my heart
So I come as I am
Empty handed

You’re worth everything
I won’t count the cost
All I thought was gain
Count it all as loss

‘Cause all You are is all I need
You fill the deepest part of me
And all I have that I can bring
Was never meant to belong to me
You overflow from who You are
And overwhelm my heart
So I come as I am
Empty handed
Yes I come as I am
Empty handed
