Lately I’ve been noticing that people in my life flirt with sin.  Of course everyone at sometime has done this.  And it comes and goes from time to time.  Some of it has to do with our thought life; some of it has to do with habit; and some of it has to do with the time we take each day to be with God.
I mean, in our culture, we see a handsome movie star and our mind starts to wander and wonder – what would it be like if I were his girlfriend and it goes on from there.  I think for it starts for girls when they are in their pre-teen years.  And if we don’t nip this in the bud, it can fester away.  Just a tiny example… I’m sure most of us women have done it at some point. And if we don’t catch it, we can start wondering in later years, what if I were married to him instead….  this can’t be good.  We also struggle with the comparison trap – we have to look like or be like that girl over there.  When truth is, we don’t even know her or what demons she may be fighting herself.  There are thousands of examples I’m sure.
Me personally, I have to ask for God’s help in this each and every day.  In earlier times in my life I let my thought life run wild… I let the devil create in me some pretty bad habitual thought patterns.  And sometimes I’m not even aware of them beginning again.
All I can say is that a scripture keeps coming to my mind… I scream it inside sometimes-   2 Timothy 2:22  Now flee from youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. It goes along with 1 Timothy 6:11, 1 Corinthians 10:14, and 1 Corinthians 6:18.  All of those verses say to FLEE temptation.
So, what does FLEE mean?  According to the dictionary it means 1.

to run away, as from danger or pursuers; take flight. 2. to move swiftly;fly; speed.

shoes with wings - flee - run for your life

Does it say play with it in your mind?  Does it say walk away slowly?  Does it say talk about it with your friends?  NO!  IT SAYS RUN! Our heavenly Father knows it will ruin our life, cause us pain and stop us from doing the work He has set up for us to do.  He wants to protect us from this!
I read every action starts with a thought, becomes verbal and then we act on it.  Don’t play with it and nurture it until it becomes an action!  Besides, the Bible says, Matthew 5:28 “but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”
So how do we go about stopping this sin that starts in our minds, how do we run or flee from it?  A couple of verses come to mind.  This one kicks Satan out of our thought life and out of our life.  It is NOT a on-time verse, but a continual verse to be used over and over.
James 4:7  Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
That’s right – you take the power of God within you and resist him, just kick him on out of the situation, kick him out of your mind, kick him out of your life! He has to run!  I know this is true – the Bible tells me so!
And the other verse, 2 Corinthians 10:5  “We are destroying speculations  and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ…”.
as I said, I struggle with this daily and I’m sure most of you do as well.  Maybe you’re not aware of it.  It’s just possible that things happen and you aren’t sure just how they got started.  Just ask your Daddy, Your Heavenly Father for wisdom and guidance.  See, He is on your side.  He wants to see you succeed and grow.  And the Bible tells us that if we ask for wisdom He gives generously to ALL.
So Girls, let’s make a pact – Starting TODAY we will ask for wisdom, ask for forgiveness and take hold of the power of Christ within us to kick the devil OUT!
